Lake Travis

This man made lake is part of the Colorado River, and is over 63 miles long. Boating, fishing, water skiing, swimming… this lake has it all. From quiet coves to bustling bays, Lake Travis is a vacation destination that is popular with Austin natives and tourists alike. This lake was created as a reservoir and flood control, and the lake level can vary from year to year, or sometimes even day to day. This is why docks and marinas on the lake are floating, rather than built on piers like constant level lakes. The “normal” level of the lake is 681 feet. Click here to see the current level.
